Should A TV be over the fireplace? Emily Henderson says yes!

Renowned stylist and designer Emily Henderson believes that TVs above fireplaces are a good idea. I generally concur, but this particular family convinced me to exclude a TV from the living room in their custom home. As a family of four, they desired a space dedicated to conversation and games, free from the distraction of a screen.

The result, it is wise to leave negative space for a positive influence. The homeowners opted to have their living room be TV free. Instead a stunning coffee table with hidden storage takes center stage. Games, cards, books can be stashed inside. Conversation is encouraged, reading is promoted, relationship to each other, and the outdoors, is the primary goal, rather than screen time.
